Just a snippet for this week as I am super frustrated with my... what shall I call it?? hhhmmm....Shit camera!!
I cant quite capture the jars, well I cant capture them at all actually haha!  new camera next week ohh joy!
On with the show!

All the art is mainly from paper, indian ink, gold leafing and natures treasures
I guess the theme is black and gold with a bit of white flung in....

these are 3D books to either rest on  a table or be hung on wall

All the pages below are framed...they are indian ink and gold leafing

Now these are the jars that I cannot photograph gggrrr.  but they all have different scenes in them

The one slight success I had!

This circus tent is for the birdcage lamp I am working on at the moment.
They are lamps made from cages with scenes of paper inside.

My floor

These working photos are taken by my darling friend Becky...xxx
Im making a dragon fly jar

I will try to update each week so that all pieces are previewed before the show

Plums..Ghouls..and Magical Fools

Ive had the loveliest afternoon.
We went to visit friends down the road and see how the house makeover was going, we take a walk around the yard looking at all the old fruit trees. Lets pick some plums!

The afternoon light was beautiful so we snuck through the gate and went for a walk.  Out of the grass appeared a path of broken beauty, smashed memories made into a beckoning road

Where did it lead???  What adventure was it taking us on ??? Who had walked here before us....

Across the rickity fenced bridge, falling to its death from a lack of loving hands

An erie place, it feels like we have travelled to the Bayou.  Munchy dont mind, she plays in the fresh cold water throwing bits and bobs under the stunning afternoon sky..but whats that we see....

Its a house, an old abandoned shack sitting silently all alone on the edge of the erie water...

Who can you see in the window???  The reflections are very spooky indeed, if reflections is what they are!! Eeekkk!

Private Property signs always work so well dont you think???

How many feet have travelled through this door, how many mice are now using it to get back to their cosy nests after fishing in the river for a family feast....

Sssshhhh as we whisper through the magic key hole....
"We think its time to go now house and leave you in peace...bless..

So what was I doing before I got side tracked???  ahhh yes plums, a yummy bowl of plums, far too nice to just eat, these have to be processed with love into something we can savour all year..

Off to the garden to pick some memory sharpening Rosemary, mmmm the smell makes me want to eat potatoes and lamb on a cold night..

Here is the recipe I chose

Chopped plums, a very time consuming but meditative task..

Dreamy colourful ingredients...

Brown sugar jar on a stainless steel bench.  I adore this photo x

I went back in time and got some authentic kiwi suzy scales, I love them xxx

Spices for the muslin bag

All dressed up and ready to party!

Pure clean glass jars....

The loved up plum chutney, now to make some labels...

I made crisp white labels by printing onto sticker sheets then cutting around the words.

Voila, cant wait to eat it with some cheese and meat mmmmm yummy yummy!

Daisy Disc Madness

I was invited down the drive for a girlie get together last night
Tea, biscuits and movies, all the kids asleep...bliss
After catching up with things over at 'A Fanciful Twist' yesterday, I had wool on my mind...What was I to do with my ever itching hands while I sat thru a movie????
The solution lay in wait in an old chocolate box in the Lady Cave...

I had aquired all of my late granmothers craft equipment and treasures years ago, there is so many wonderful things, i love it all and wonder if maybe I have her genes so intensely that we are the same person.  So I took along this cute little thing called a daisy disc, it looks like its a New Zealand invention.

A bag of wool ball leftovers and my disc packed into my floral 80s knitting bag and I was away.  Down the dusty farm track we call a drive and over the wire fence to watch girlie movies.

Two movies and a cup of tea later I had made 9 Daisies
I adore them, not only are they new but they are steeped in history too
Imagining that my grandmother sat in her green chair and used this exact same tool

This is how it works, you wind the wool over opposite hooks two or three times and move in a clockwise direction.  When thats all done, cut the wool with 50cm left over, thread on a needle and sew down one peg across two so you pop up on number four, go back and start one closer so you are always overlapping two,.....; ) that sounds so complicated!,  its easy!

When you have done it all the way round tie the two ends together, turn over the disc, use your needle to pop the petals off the pegs and you have a perfect ohh so pretty daisy.
What to do with these daisies??

Auntie Booboo brought Indi this cute hat so I sewed three darling daisies to the side and we went out for a fashion shoot....photographing toddlers!....sheesh.  but she looks beautiful.
Adorned in her 2nd hand hat with her antique heirloom mummy made flowers....what a treasure.

Im sure the daisy making will continue tonight and my child will be adorned from head to toe
happy summer days xxx

I couldnt resist putting in this last one, sweetness xxx

Saying goodbye to Christmas

I always enjoy putting away the Christmas decorations as much as hanging them out.
When your getting ready for Christmas its so exciting decorating, shopping, planning feasts, songs on the radio, praying for a scorching sunny day and thinking of all the gifts that people will be unwrapping.
Everyone loves a well thought out present that reflects their exact personality, it makes you realise that the gifter really thought about you.

But there is something even more exciting about taking it all down and realising the giving and receiving has dissolved and its time to get on with the year. There is so much to do now, what will the year bring, who will we be, what will I create, what challenges will we face, what delightful surprise will greet us, will I discover a new passion or talent and what new food will I taste for the first time and wonder how I ever lived without it.  My daughter will grow and learn at lightening speed and make me laugh every day...and probably cry too!

The treasures are put away till the end of the year, when they will be brought out again and added to with our new glittered creations.
My ears are already pricked for the new 2010 Christmas list, listening to my family and friends talk about things they love and need.  I take my present giving very seriously and also the wrapping!

Its time to swap the Christmas Tree for the season shrine again.  So let the collecting of summer treats start, Im off to the beach to find shells and fluffy bunny tails xxx
Happy new year everyone, may the new moon in 5 days help all your wishes come true !

Today I made blogging my new life

I have had a blog for about 6 months now but never really understood what I was doing here??...I love to look at the same blog every day in quiet desperation that she has posted something to inspire me.
I feel like it is my turn to do some inspiring.
I have decided these holidays that I will not be going back to my job looking after children.
I am and will be an artist selling my creations from home, doing adult art classes, posting on my blog daily and selling thru ETSY and other craft pages.  I need desperately to connect with people like me who cant help but create everyday, I need to feel alive inside again.....
So as I camped at the most beautiful beach yesterday with our wonderful friends, I sipped wine and thought 'how can I ever complain about my life", look at how amazing it is.  I need to change a few things and see everyday as the magical blessing it is, and tell people all about it so they can feel this way too.....
So where did I end up starting????  i love love love to research, my dream is that I am embroiled in some mystery like the Da Vinci Code ( minus the guns!)  I used to draw treasure maps and hide them in my books and then pretend to find them and go on the hunt, ohh if someone had only made me a map!!!  eehheemm  so anywho...where did I start??

One thing I have done is buy my first copies of 'Artful Blogging' magazine for $40 each EEEKKK!!!
They are so worth the money I paid.  Reading them....Its like living in a dream!  I am so a blogger and I wasent even aware of it, this is what I have hunted for...its been a long search....
Speaking of hunting and searching........

As we looked thru rockpools with our beautiful daughter, I realised that she was seeing everything for the first time and  it was all new and all exciting and dragging her away from those catseye snails was going to be hard.... this is how I have been feeling the last few weeks with my blogging hunt, staying up far too late because I just need one more look, one more blog....

I have found my treasure, and this is where my life changes.
So we came home today and as Kel and Indi cooked dinner I swanned around looking at my fairies thinking what i will use for my new banner for my better more functioning blog....blog blog blog my poor brain!

I spy my daily affirmation box and think 'hhhmmm, what do you think about all this?'

I open the box slightly worried that I may pull a harsh card that could possibly throw me,
knock me off my path a bit........

"Uniqueness"
How perfect can you get, everything I have read in the Artful Blogging magazine says 'uniqueness is what sets good blogs apart from shallow bad blogs.  Keep it real, be yourself and the people will come.
I cannot wait to be involved in this whole other secret world....

I love to write my ambitions down, its the best way for me to visualise and make things materialise, and with this page that I started a mere 2 months ago, its nearly all come true.  i even get my new macro camera in two weeks which will take my photos into a whole new level.
For me if its written down it has to happen.  Its already real if someone can see it.

So I would love you to come along on my creative journey, we have so much to learn together.
Im getting set up for tutorials, give aways and creative get togethers.
I am officially in LOVE xxx
