Where the sun always shines, on this little home of mine
and the green grass grows, to keep us on our toes
theres a family here I've made, where ancestors bones are laid
that will stay in my heart, whenever we're apart
I love the life I live, and have so much gifts to give
there is so much time to spend, sharing stories with you friend xxx
I spent my 20s travelling around looking for a place to call home and look at where I ended up...
back at the start.
How did you end up in the place you live??
Is it your family home town?
or did you happen upon a paradise to put down your rambling roots???

You are truly in paradise, Sheree! I can think of no more beautiful place in the world to live and call home. I am quite content, right now, with where we are. I have a cozy little house in a quiet neighborhood, with a creative husband who loves me and two furry pups who I adore. We have our flowers and our veggie/fruit gardens in our small yard, with scores of little critters and birds and pretty flying insects to keep us company. If I had my way, I would most choose to live in Vermont or Maine - my two favorite states. I am a tried and true New Englander... :) Have a wonderful day, dear friend.

Lovely, Sheree. Perhaps we all have to go looking for our 'sacred space', but I think many don't find it. You are lucky to have found your paradise, but perhaps what's more important is that you recognise it for all that it is. Your post reminded me of one of my favourite poems. Well, the last verse anyway. "Little Gidding" by T.S. Elliot.
ReplyDelete"We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time."
I travelled too, looking for something but I wasn't sure what. And in Glastonbury at Chalice Well, I met a very wise lady who was working in the garden there, who asked me what I was looking for, noting that many came there seeking something, and told me simply "You'll find it at home, you know...because it's inside you."
That's 20 years ago, and it's a lesson I'm still learning, but perhaps it takes a lifetime to learn!
Oooh, and thanks so much for buying my prints...I'll get them off to you asap!

Your picture is like a dreamland to me. Perhaps in my next life I will be blessed with the opportunity to find my ideal place to wake up each day.
ReplyDeleteBut I am here, in my little home I came to in 76. I thought it would be a step along the way, but we stayed. From the first day, we worked together to make it into our home. Changes, changes and more. Today, when weather permits our favorite place to spend a minute or more is by the frog pond (they talk to me, you know ) in the critter haven in our own back yard. I revel in the bird tweets and chipmunks that run along the bottom of the fence and listen to the distant train and wonder where it goes. I have changed from longing to be on it to content to wonder.
The ocean has always called to me but somehow I ended up in my wonderful mountain retreat that I have named, "Woodloft" It is nestled in the mountains of the Blue Ridge Parkway. I love being here and have turned it into my larger self. I have bloomed where I was planted.
ReplyDeleteYour homeland is wonderful as well. The ocean...ah...the ocean!
beautiful words... It is funny how some times when we are young we try so hard to get away from where we live yet later realizing just how special it is to us. I remember the first time I realized that about my home. The field of wheat waving in the wind.... like a sea of yellow for miles. Such a calming it gave me.... Such a peace
ReplyDeleteOh so beautiful! Truly paradise. OOoo and look at that wondrous hair of yours!

I have no home, as of yet. Not for real, anyway. I'm constantly in a "temporary home," being in college and living in one apartment or another. Still waiting for the day when I can own the perfect house. Your area looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteNow that's a paintable view! You can see right through the water to the white sand beneath. Thanks for brightening my day with your lovely photos and thoughts,
