After a lovely day buying treats in town, we returned home to this!
Obviously the Mailman has had enough of our shitty little letterbox and ripped the lid off to jam in our large mail! woops!!! Some things we prefer to buy expensive but for some reason that has never stretched to the letterbox, the first was 2nd hand and this hump was only $20, so it was time to upgrade.
Good old plastic rural fantastic, very boring indeed, this needs a little bit of life!
Hmmmm let me design something......
I cut it out with a craft knife and stuck it to the soon to be transformed mailbox...
white and black spray paint, watch out Sheree, Cut Collective will be banging down your door...
Voila! boring mailbox no more, this whole process was about 20 mins long, a very fast makeover
because we gotta get down to the gate before dinner and put it up for the mail man tomorrow...
Munchy shotguns driving, shes pretty bad for a 22 month old
and this is where the magic really starts for me, its not about the mailbox at all that I have brought you here! its the post that the mailbox sits on! .... while Kelly put up the new box and Munchy played in the truck I went all macro over the post. And this is what I found.....
What your done already???? Well lets test it out, hmmm I wonder how big a package we can fit in there???
Yep..this one is much bigger!
Dont you just love the crazy life on the farm, never a dull moment
Happy Valentines Everyone for tomorrow
We dont really celebrate it in NZ, the men dont show their emotions here haha but me and Kel will have something red for dinner, thats about it, thats all I need.
xxx sheree
~your mailbox looks welcoming for all that comes your way...love your photos...especially the sixth one up (looks like a wee little fairy down on the bottom ) and the honeycomb...so sweet...our little has become quite the driver too...such a sweetpea you have...brightest blessing~
ReplyDeleteNice re-do on the mail box. We have mail carrier woes of our own; she was "fine with everything" while she was substitute but the second she became full time, she became a pita.
ReplyDeletestuffing your kid in the mailbox... now that would surprise your mailman....
ReplyDeleteLOL...I am laughing so hard, what a great post. Silly mailman. Great new mailbox and post!

Ha!ha!ha!
ReplyDeletefunny girl!
LOVE the last pic of your daughter IN the mailbox!! That had better be big enough:)
ReplyDeleteGreat make over!

What a fun post. I recycled a mail box abou 20 years ago and the door just fell off. I have been thinking its time to switch it up!! Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI think it would be a hoot if you stuff your daughter in there right before the postman comes. When he opens the door, she could take the mail from him.
Get your camera ready!!
I wanted you to know that I linked to your blog today in a blog post. I hope you don't mind.

Wow, the new mailbox is really funky. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat photos as always.
Sorry about this short and uninspired comment -- it's past midnight here, and I am a bit tired.
Hugs,
Birgit
Love what you did to the mailbox. The photos were great too.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant, love it! We have mailbox issues too, despite the 'Australia Post Approved' box. It's supposed to be specially designed for picket fences, but it's badly designed and the letters hang half out...on the OUTside of our 6 foot picket fence...the gate has a padlock on it to stop munchkins from wandering onto the road, and it's fine for Mr 6'4" he can just reach over the top and pull it out, but yours truly has to either stand on the bottom cross beam of the fence to try and reach, or run all the way round out onto the footpath!
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you for the gorgeous macro shots...another reminder that the marvelous and miraculous is right under our noses if we just bother to look!
Yes Sheree this mail box looks big enough... so pleased you got to & decorated it... when I've travelled to NZ I found a town where as you were driving out everyone had a fab/cute/weird letterbox... think it was near Alexandria? loved them & next time I'm over & go that way I'm stopping to take photos... my duaghter gave me a book on letterboxs in NZ it was so cool...
ReplyDeleteLove Munchy riding shotgun for you too... ha ha
Great mailbox redo! Love your photos, very nice macros. Wandered over from the link at Beads and Birds :)
ReplyDeleteTake care!
You've got fe-mail...he he
ReplyDeleteHaha I just love the shot of Indie in the mail box! Just gorgeous xx Hope all is going well - can't wait to come north for your show :)
