Ask Believe Receive Banner

I woke up this morning with a crazy urge to cancel my plans and stay home and redecorate something, its strange when you give in to these impulses and then read a few hours later something in your daily horoscope like this ..... "right now the skies are strongly suggesting you tidy up your own backyard before anything else.  It's a great time to tidy up any issues you have to do with your home,  renovation or decorating plans and anything else connected to your home life."  So lovely to be in tune on the good days, not so lovely on the heavy crazy planet days.

So what did I do????

Kelly reads his books, "The Secret and The Power" every night, so we thought we would do something for him, I have moved paintings around and hung new gifts, but there was a gap left in the middle, I needed something thin and long.

I used book pages, lettering I printed with the computer, Indian ink and my beloved carbon paper...

I traced a letter onto each page

painted them in ink

and sewed them onto ribbon

with the largest stitch I had ( 4 )

 this is the space

and this is what we made, sort of paper prayer flag affirmations.
The main lesson in "The Secret"is the ASK * BELIEVE* RECEIVE cycle, its something we remind ourselves of everyday, so now we can really remind ourselves and everyone who visits us too.

It is really effective and makes me think that rarely do people have words hanging on their walls, i love it.

how appropriate where the word 'Receive" ended, right above a painting I recieved from Cameron of 'Paint Myself Pretty'

Its a painting she did for '21 Secrets' which i fell in love with and had to have..

she even posted it with real California roses which I had to frame with it, on some beautiful sparkley black velvet, I love the real roses behind a frame, love love love

and I finally have crossed some kind of bridge on my journey where I can hang my most beloved painting, it happens to be my most painful painting that I wasent even able to look at for the last year because I painted it to represent my living hell I passed thru, so scared that if I looked too long I would remember and might magically be dragged back there, kicking and screaming I bet!!

So all in all it was a great makeover morning, a little bit here and there and I will have a new house to look at soon.  And I made up two more ask 'believe receive flags' incase you werent inspired to make your own but still want some.  They are now  hanging about in my Etsy shop.
You can go straight to them here

Well off to make dinner, Italian fish with the fresh catch from the weekend.

I ASK that you be inspired by my journey
I BELIEVE that you are
and I know this because I RECEIVE your wonderful comments

Ohh Cheeseball!! You dont mind though do you!!

Have a truly 'In Tune' day, feeling your way thru your plans
which are so enlivening when changed at the last second.

Much Love

Metamorphosis On This Journey

Anyone who reads my blog knows that I have made  a huge change, I didnt really talk details before but here it.
My Metamorphosis Story

For the past year I have been on a hugeFor the past year I have been on a huge transformation journey, one that started to gather pressure six years ago then snowballing till I had no idea how lost I was, and then I cracked.

I have had a life that is not that traumatic at all, so for some it was hard to see why I was having a breakdown, what did I have to complain about. But inside, unknowingly, I was stockpiling pain, friendship breakups, social rejection, multiple miscarriages, failed businesses, just pain after pain, I became a frantic person, I did everything at lightening speed because I could, slow people who got in my way just irritated me, the birth of my daughter should have been the relaxing fulfilling dream I had wanted, but it just made me more anxious and upset, I had what we thought was PND but I wasn't depressed, I just couldn't feel anything for my daughter, nothing at all, nothing negative or positive, I felt I was suffocating so threw myself into work and more responsibility and anything I could volunteer for, people would tell me to slow down but I thought I was fine, why was everyone so upset that I could do so much.

Then the cracks began to show, little bits of panic here and there, memory loss, the commitments I had craved began to weigh on me instead and those 'to do' lists filled me with terror. Then my undoing, our close friends had their 3 month old daughter die and I was so upset I felt I was going to lose it, but I managed to keep it together, that night after her funeral I felt terrible, I slept but in the morning I cracked and my breakdown began.

No longer was I able to push anything down, it was all on its way out. This is where the terror phase began, which many people refer to as the 'Dark Night'. I thought I had clicked over to crazy, every emotion I had ever pushed down was coming thru me as the original emotion I had trapped, this was a week of non stop crying, painful painful stuff, no sleep, terror raged thru me with the feeling that my insides were being devoured or burned, I was having seizures every time I ate, my body was emptying of everything. Now this is where the doctors tell me I'm depressed and being just a little dramatic!

We were so angry with them that we rebelled against main stream medicine and went all natural, Reiki to relax, Acupuncture to drain meridians so blocked up, TAT therapy for removing years of trauma. This was the most gruelling time, but it needed to be done, I couldn't go back, I had to go forward, all my healers kept saying that it was wonderful and that I was going to be so different, I still did not get it, I had no idea I was so bad, I didn't want to be different. I had to cut every tie I had, cancel all my responsibilities and check out of my social life, It was time to hibernate and work on myself.

My family were amazing and looked after my daughter, my partners support is beyond words, he would let me talk and talk for hours never once complaining about his wreck of a future wife. I also found thru homoeopathy that I was full of chemicals, copper, aluminium, mercury, pesticides, we had to completely change our houses food stocks to organic only other wise my body would have seizures.

I was told the whole process of this metamorphose lasts about 2 years, I don't have two years I would think, but now I understand that it takes this time to knock you permanently out of your old life patterns, if it wasn't for this, I don't think I would have ever changed, I just couldn't see things any different.

So who have I morphed into?
I prefer to have no lists, I say no a lot, and feel no guilt, just a peacefulness a few hours later when I realize I really didn't want to do that, and people treat me no differently for saying no, I always thought, the more I say yes to people the more they would love me. But I have learnt to love myself, I know my relationship with my daughter is now as it should be, all signs of PND are gone.

I am light as a feather, healthy, no longer have any stomach problems, I am still extremely sensitive to anything processed or un organic, but figure that this is the healthiest Ive ever been and why would I return to toxic food even if I could. I can laugh and joke more and just cruise thru life and live, the desperation of achieving has gone, I do things because I want to now.

I have morphed into the butterfly of my dreams, it has been such hard work and I am only 1 year thru my change but I am 90% there for sure and in love with my life again.

My advice to others is watch yourself living, if I read thru a lot of my work before this happened, I was writing the word overwhelmed nearly daily, you leave a lot of clues, stockpiling dramas and trauma doesn't work, it will wait for you, learn to process and release things. I would find myself gardening thinking of conversations from years before, and I would get angry and vent while I worked, replaying imaginative conversations over and over.

Learn compassion for others, and accept them as you would want others to accept yourself, there is no good outcome from judgement and assumptions are not facts.

Read good books, like Stephanie Dowrick and Eckhart Tolle, they concentrate on 'you' becoming the solution because we are the only things we can change. And do change, change is a wonderful thing that we all need, we are evolving beings so doing a yearly change or even better monthly with the moon could prevent something like a huge breakdown from happening.

Learn about what fear is, an excellent book is 'The tibetan art of serenity', I have learnt that if the suggestion of something instantly scares me, then I have to do it, the more you give in to fear, the more it feels like a real issue.

On the other side of fear is serenity and you can only reach this by moving thru fear, you cannot go around it, believe me, I have tried everything! I was the panic attack queen.

Learn to meditate or at least be still and listen, at least once a day. Listen to what? Just listen to yourself being, being human, being alive, being you. If I find my day is too busy and by night I'm too tired I use those moments when I wake in the night to go outside, listen to the silence and just have gratitude for everything good in my life. What if there is nothing good??
There is always something good.

Learning to grow thru art has been huge, I kept 3 diaries thru my transformation, a medical diary to record how I was progressing mentally, a doodle diary where I drew how I felt, most of the time in cartoon form, other times as mandalas of healing, and a spiritual diary of all the amazing lessons I had learnt along the way. I can read any of these now to see how far I have come.

The proof of my progress is so inspiring to me on bad days. Some days words just aren't enough, and this is where our art comes in, so much more can be said with our emotional creativity, feeling our way thru instead of having to condense back into words.

Metamorphosis is a blessing we call to ourselves, the harder the change the more meaningful it will be when we emerge from our dark night of reclaiming our true selves. That is why we are here, to experience life and all the wonderful gifts this world has to offer and to come home to ourselves. We all have inner knowledge about who our true selves are, this is why we have to look inside for the answers, and use our everyday creativity to get there.

Life is not a struggle, life is not a challenge, life is just an experience, that is all that is asked of you, so relax and go enjoy the experience of creating something..create your life.

So what is Metamophosis to me ?

Our hearts evolve through love, Our skills evolve through work, Our worlds evolve through play but how are we evolving our souls, how are you changing today?

Did you change your house, have you got a new car, did you cut your hair, or find a new bar.

What of your soul, did things change deep inside, you may look changed but what still do you hide.

Can you bare to sit still, and hear yourself breathe, are you quietly content or just waiting to leave?

If the world stopped today, would you feel satisfied, or still wanting more, not ready to die

We are here in the now, to experience each day, and try to evolve with the gifts in our way

No pressure, no map, just whatever you feel, there is only love and free moments to steal

So make changes today, to move on ahead, 'experience' this life is all God has said.

I highly recommend this book if you are just wanting to relax in your life and enjoy it.
I always wanted God to be real, but the God I felt, not the one religion had sold me.
Here I have found who I was looking for, and I finally feel like I belong.

What To Do With Olives

Picking Olives is something I do every year, but what about when you dont have a press to make oil, what then do you do with these things.  Here is my recipe for curing olives, the natural way.  When olives are cured in masses, chemicals are used to speed up the lengthy process, and the ones you will make will taste way better and will only require water and salt.

Olive picking and preserving has been a passion of mine for years, the amount of money I would have spent on olives if I didnt make them is a scarey thought, but its not just because of the money that I choose to do this preserving, its because the home made olives I make are like nothing I have ever been able to purchase. You can taste the simlicity, nothing but salt and water. The secret to preserving olives is putting salt in to draw out the bitterness but then drawing the salt back out also. After much experimenting and many jars of olives that ended up leaving your tongue numb from too much salt I have learnt to use the brine, then a stronger brine and then plain water before being packed into brine in jars. Sounds complicated but so simple seeing as you only change brines every three days, not a bad commitment to make. The most time consuming task is picking your olives, you may have a rake and a net which would be perfect but I pick by hand into a picking bib usually standing on the bonnet and roof of my truck trying to reach as many olives as possible.

The trees I choose to pick from are very old and there seem to be three in our village, its thought that early Yougoslav settlers brought them here so that dates them to about 150 years old. However old they are, they are the hugest olive trees I have ever seen and I even picked olives in Italy so have seen a few old trees. The height of these wild trees with their drooping branches is a frustrating sight for an eager woman standing on her truck, but I have to remember our small feathered friends who adore this fruit also, so we can go halves, I will take the lower half, they can have the top. How do we know when to pick olives, I check them about every second week from February. When the odd olive is going puple on its way to black, I will use this as a sign to get my things together because in a week I will pick. Two years ago I picked in May and this year March, so trust your sight more than anything. You want a decent sized olive but if you wait too long after they start to turn black\\purple you will have a tree raided by birds. After picking I spend alot of time sitting down and sorting, you will no doubt have leaves and bird pecked or damaged olives, I also snap off any stalks left attached. You can seperate the black from the green in you want to, the black will cure faster but its not a problem to mix them. Place your olives in a bin with a lid, bucket if small harvest or bowl if even smaller, its best to weigh them down so they are all submerged, in a bucket I use a plate and in the bin I use a piece of plastic with holes which I made especially to fit. If olives are left to float uneven curing will happen as the same side will always float and you will have odd colouring where they have touched the air. When changing the brine you will notice the water has become a yellow colour and sometimes has scum floating on the top. This is all very normal and in fact perfect!\par

May Madness The Halfway Projects

So I have taken some photos of my halfway projects, here you may be able to see why I am a sometimes blogger and would love to be a constant blogger

I am so obsessed with handsewing, especially on my dummy, I just love building dresses, the problem may be if I sell them the time it has taken will make then along the lines of $$priceless$$

I adore this sleeve

the most relaxing craft I do

more hand sewing, these are little fabric russian dolls, which are addictive, they are so small, 4'' tall, about 6cm, fabric hand sewn bodies

and painted bead faces

the possobilities are endless.  Its a great way to use all your very little bits of pretty fabric

more pretty fabric for a line of bags Im making, 8 in all

handsewn, machine sewn, screen printed, embroidered, I love these

who thought I would have such paitence for hand sewing when I used to be a speed demon, ohh the changes I have made

and this is why we dont paint at 5.30am, anyone notice a problemn here??? yep, that is not how you spell Patience!  What a bumber, Im still not in the mood to try and fix it yet, just hide it from myself for a while

My favorite place to be, on a very quiet day, thinking up things and making them real

like these shrine books I did for my exhibition over a year ago and never finished

I had carved out the fronts

and now I have done Labrynths further in, so you can sit and meditate and follow the path with your finger

it is truly relaxing

cord material waiting to become little girl pants

a line of hand decorated tights awaiting cuffs and elastic

half mulched gardens I will one day get back too

and this wonderful picket fence that I salvaged from the Homestead, I took the battens off the old fence, de nailed them and cut them down, renailed them to new wood

and got a man to help me rehang them in front of our house

what is it about a picket fence, maybe it speaks to the old souls in us, I love it

so now Im weeding the side gardens to finally get them planted after 5 years! woops

yeah it will be nice when they look a little different to the lawn

my winter veges are getting there too, they look so lush, especially when in summer it turns into a desert in my garden, poor plants dont stand a chance

working in lots of seaweed and poo

while still taking time to smell the flowers

then running back inside to referee Miss 3 with the poor new kitten Louie, for some starnge reason he cannot get enough of this girl
