A Sign Of New Work Flowing In

I seem to have fallen into a new line of work lately.  Funny when you think you know what you do and one person will ask for you to do a job and then it sort of starts rolling from there.
I am spending a lot of time, sign writing.
Here is a job that I did for a backpackers up the road
North Wind Lodge
They had very old school road signs, to me the old ones were 70s smoker lounge, these ones reflect the feeling of the backpackers much more.
'Fantail'
'Paua'
'Pohutukawa'
'Flax'

and here they are in place, on the main road looking south...

and north...

the road is a 6km long dirt road, which leads to such a beautiful beach..

entrance sign

and the one on the corner, sorry to look so unenthusiastic! but I had the timer on and ran to get to the sign and act casual! Fail! haha

these are the old signs in the shed, and I also painted smaller signs for the tracks around the backpackers.

and the beach....aaahhh... its so nice and in summer the water glows..

I am so blessed to live somewhere that has no beach crowding and very clean water.  We have no idea how lucky we are here.  I like to remind myself by remembering that people come to my home town to 'Holiday', this is a place of desire to many people and they escape to here to relax, have fun and explore.  Something I can do every day if I wish to.
"I Wish To"

I now have sign writing jobs flowing in from others, I love this new line of work!

So what jobs have you taken on lately that you didnt even know you were interested in doing??

How are you moving beyond your imagined boundaries?

  2. Those signs are so beautiful - I bet they are pulling in the trade - they capture something special about the beauty of the landscape and the relaxation that no doubt awaits!

I recently discovered a bit of a skill of award application writing for companies. I started doing some very successfully for one client and and now it has snowballed!

  3. Well...I always thought I'd be no good at teaching (I mean, you have to be an expert to teach, don't you?!), especially teaching children. The thought of it terrified me. And yet I found myself helping out with my daughter's art class at school last term (and again this term), and loving it, which led to me being asked to run an art club there this term. All volunteer work at the moment, but who knows where it might lead, now that I've surprised myself by discovering that not only is it fun, but I might actually be good at it!

  4. Those signs are just gorgeous. Congratulations!
I suddenly found myself with a new job 2 and a half years ago when my mr. became ill and disabled. Since then I have been a full-time carer. It's a 24-hour job, in some ways like being a sole parent with an infant. I've pushed so far past my own boundaries I can't even remember where they were any more. I found that it's a job I'm really good at, and we are doing well, considering.

I love these new signs, so full of color...and with the inclusion of Native plant and animal species, they really are ART Signs....perfect for the setting and environment they now stand in :)

You are amazing....but, you already know that, right?!!!

    XO
